SNAP Flies!

For Trading October 21st
IBM & NFLX TANK, SNAP FLIES UP
An Unimpressive Outing for Indexes
Still sitting on CVS calls, TBT calls and QQQ puts. Looking at SLV and NEM adds.
Today’s market was another reversal of fortune after an up open and a high +379, we fell all the way back to close +113.37 (.40%), NASDAQ was +153 but finished +37.61 (.33%) and the rest followed the pattern with S&P 500 +16.20 (.47%), the Russell +4.08 (.25%) and the biggest gainer, DJ Transports +152.21 (1.3%). Internals were just okay with NYSE 2:1 up and NAZ just 6:5. Volume was average. The DJIA was 24 up, 6 lower, with the biggest changes from IBM -54 DP’s and TRV +40DP’s. Aside from IBM there were no other double-digit losers and all the rest of the double-digit gainers were up less than 20 points.
Tonight’s closing comment video: https://youtu.be/UYkje0_lqQo
SECTORS: Earnings were the big mover today with the aforementioned IBM miss that took the stock down last night and into the open, but that was just a warmup. By the end of the day Big Blue was pounded for a low of 116.84 and a close not much higher at $117.45 -8.07 (8.07%). Netflix (NFLX) also missed and after closing $525.42 -5.30, it plummeted to $486 and the last is $493.90 -37.03 (6.98%). The decline from the new all-time high of $572.49 just last Wednesday is just under 14%.
The big winner so far is SNAP with a surprise beat that sent the stock to a new all-time high at $35.57 and a last of $34.89 +6.23 or 21.67% on the day. And the HOMERUN OF THE DAY goes to Astrotech, ASTC, who signed an agreement to produce a “breath” test for Covid-19. The stock has been reversed twice in the past 12 years both 1:10 and 1:5 giving it an adjusted high of $800 and a close today of $1.69, but after the announcement of the joint venture with Cleveland Clinic the stock has been on a tear to a high of $6.90 and the last of $6.72 +5.01 (300%). Tomorrow ought to be interesting once the RH traders get a hold of it!

OIL, $41.70 +.64, Oil has been locked into the current range and tried to break in either direction without success. While I think it may resolve to the downside, I am not taking any new positions. The stocks were higher today and there has been a pickup in M&A activity in the group. XLE finished $29.90 +.35 (1.18%).

I'm going to make the argument that using a crypto debit card at this point is still a better option than using fiat for daily purchases.

I hear the common arguments a lot; people say they won't ever use one while it holds the Visa logo and association. The payment is still handled in fiat so you aren't in any way truly using bitcoin. No matter what, 'HODL.' All valid reasons, however I personally don't subscribe to those thoughts. These cards often have a high cash back percentage on purchases and in the case of the MCO card that cash back amount is higher with the more value you hold in your wallet. If the goal is to accumulate as much BTC, doesn't it make sense to be holding as much as you can as often as you can? It takes guts to be a day trader sniffing around for profits on price action, imagine going to the store and BTC happens to be up that moment, whatever you purchased just got cheaper. The reverse of that is bound to happen too. It still would seem to hold up that similar to DCA strategies, the longer you've held onto BTC the more profitable it has become. It would stand to reason that since it is true for longer time periods, the smaller incremental time periods would also apply (If you think about it that way).
Not only does using these cards allow you to allocate more fiat to BTC on a routine basis, it shows companies there is a demand for this technology. Not to look at the banks as the bad guys, they're just the curators of a more primitive money. This opens up the field to them having to adapt to a different money they wont be able to have their hands all over, never the less the entanglement of BTC with fiat bridges is necessary. These Visa cards are the door we need to use and blow it all open to widespread use I believe.
Money should be dispersed, same with BTC so have multiple wallets. Use hardware/ cold storage wallets for bulk of your funds. Hot wallets, which most usually would be used by these card providers, so only have the amounts your needs or desire for higher cash back rewards. Always not your keys not your coins. There are downsides to not owning the keys. I am not ignorant to the 'principles of bitcoin'- cultist way of this that explains why people are against payments not settled directly in BTC.
Anyway that's my thoughts, do whatever you want. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong and offer your views.

IBM MISSES REVENUES, AGAIN!
INDEXES TURN LOWER AFTER AN UP OPEN
Today’s market was a reversal of fortune after an up open and a downturn that took us down on the day, but moving sideways for a while before 2:00 when we started to accelerate lower finishing -410.89 (1.44%), Nasdaq -192.68 (1.65%), S&P 500 -56.89 (1.63%), the Russell -20.18 (1.24%), and the DJ Transport -128.34 (1.08%). IBM Rockets

For Trading October 9th
Solid Day
IBM Soars, DPZ Crushed
Today’s market was just a good, old-fashioned day without any major moves in the indexes, no earth-shattering tweets or end of days prognostications. I didn’t have any power, cable or phone last night so besides not putting out my Daily Note or closing comment, I missed the big debate. Judging by the reports I heard today, all I missed was the fly on Pence’s head! The DJIA was +122.06 (.43%), NASDAQ +56.38 (.50%), S&P 500 +27.38 (.80%), the Russell was the big winner again +17.51 (1.09%) and the Transports +72.54 (.62%) and a new all-time high! The internals were good with NYSE 3:1 and NASDAQ 2:1 positive and all I can say is that it was very a very “Goldilocks” kind of day.
Looking at adding NEM and GLD calls, and a reentry into CVS and UNG calls probably...
Tonight’s closing comment video: https://youtu.be/lXD_OB9CrYU
SECTORS: There was good news for holders of Eaton Vance (EV) being taken over by Morgan Stanley (MS) for about $7 billion in cash and stock. MS was -2.20 premarket but right after the open it started back up and finished $49.35 +.64, and since it included stock, the rise sent EV higher to close $60.78 +19.84 (48.4%). IBM also had news that sent it higher. They gave guidance and then announced that they are going to split the company up and make the pieces “pure plays” in an effort to get a better valuation for the parts. It looked great pre-market but by the open it had given up about 1/3 of the gains and finished the day up $7.42 (6%) after the early market up 12%. Same situation with REGN, trading up to $618 or so +$26, but the stock never made it there when the real market opened…and then traded back to $598 and closed $599.70 +8.00, near the lows, but still ahead 1.24%. On the downside, the DISASTER DU JOUR, was a name that I wrote about last week, WWR, Westwater Resources, which went from $1.52 to $14.50 on news that Mr. Trump had signed an executive order relating to securing “rare earth” and critical minerals last week. As I mentioned, the stock took off from under $2 to $14.50 in 4 days and then reversed and finished the day $7.46 -4.26 (36%).

Reversal by Tweet
“No Deal Until After I’m Re-elected”
Today’s market was split early with the DJIA higher and the NASDAQ lower. It made some headway all day, never quite catching up, and then after “THE TWEET” we reversed hard and the DJIA finished -375.88 (1.34%), NASDAQ -177.88 (1.57%), S&P 500 -47.68 (1.4%), the Russell held better only down 4.67 (.30%) and Transports -82.85 (.72%). My guess is that the president’s misdirection play will be reversed when it politically suits him, and the market will rally again as he tries everything in the book, except of course, actual action, to get that second term. Market internals were negative, but not terrible with NYSE just 4:3 down and the NASDAQ 10:7, with all but 3 DJIA stocks lower. BA was the leader on the downside trimming 77 DP’s off the index and PG and DD, lower by less than $1, and CSCO unchanged.

SECTORS: There was some good news for LEVI. The estimates were for a loss of $ .22/share and when they reported a profit of $ .08, increased margins and 52% growth in Ecommerce the stock took off. The last 10 days had the stock moving higher from $11.91 to today’s high of $15.27 before closing a bit lower at $14.74. In extended hours, the stock hit $16.78 and is currently $16.20 +1.19 (7.86%). The news for Social Capital’s SPAC III (IPOC) was evidently a disappointment. Chalmath Palihapitiya gave the story on CNBC before the open and the stock did nothing but head south. It closed $10.95- 1.73 (13.64%), but the big surprise to me was that Social Capital II also fell, closing $17.49 -2.22 (11.26%) and it has a completely different merger going on in the real estate business. Defies logic, but since we’re in both, I’m staying long. And the HOME RUN of the Day, PPSI, Pioneer Power Solutions, a little know company with the only recent news was a Form 4 (insider buying) filed in August for a purchase 1,000 shares of the stock at an average price of $1.40. The stock was trading $2.91 +1.34 pre-market (86%) and at the end of the day it was $5.83 +4.28 (273%) and in late trading it hit $9.43 and closed $6.20 +4.63 (294.9%). Quite a day for a stock with no news!!

After breaking out over $10,000 we have had a “running correction” pushing prices toward $12,000, reaching a recovery high of $12220 Thursday, and after a day of rest in between, we resumed the rally touching $12,635, but have sold off back to support. For Trading October 9th
Solid Day
IBM Soars, DPZ Crushed
Today’s market was just a good, old-fashioned day without any major moves in the indexes, no earth-shattering tweets or end of days prognostications. I didn’t have any power, cable or phone last night so besides not putting out my Daily Note or closing comment, I miss the big debate. Judging by the reports I heard today, all I missed was the fly on Pence’s head! The DJIA was = 122.06 (.43%), NASDAQ +56.38 (.50%), S&P 500 +27.38 (.80%), the Russell was the big winner again +17.51 (1.09%) and the Transports +72.54 (.62%) and a new all-time high! The internals were good with NYSE 3:1 and NASDAQ 2:1 positive and all I can say is that it was very a very “Goldilocks” kind of day.

WMT vs AMZN?

For Trading JULY 8th
JOLTs 5.4 vs. 5 Million
NVAX gets $1.6B from BARDA
Today’s market got off to a very soft start in the DJIA but not so much in the NASDAQ and S&P-500, with the DJIA starting off -240 and managing a rally only as far as -125 before spending several hours going sideways until the last hour of trading when the NASDAQ and S&P ran out of steam and fell below the close and the selloff resumed. It’s never a good thing when and overbought index makes a new all-time high and then closes down and on the lows. The DJIA was -396.85 (1.51%), NASDAQ -89.76 (.86%), S&P 500 -34.30 (1.08%), the Russell -26.89 (1.86%) and the DJ Transports -108 (1.1%). The internals were 3:1 down on NYSE and 2.5:1 on NASDAQ with volume on the NYSE 2:1 down also. The DJIA was 28 down and only 2 up with WMT the big gainer +55 DP’s and on the downside, BA-62, GS -55, and UNH -43DP’s. Even with the good JOLTs number, this market is just over-extended and tired. The stat I mentioned in tonight’s video about the S&P is very telling, I think, with the S&P only 2% off its high, the median S&P stock is down 11%. This market has simply gotten too narrow and it will correct.
We sold half of the remaining NEM 7/17 $60’s bought @ 1.55 and added to last Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94, and today’s sale was @ $3.20. They closed today $3.20. We also own a position in SLV 8/21 17 calls @ $ .74, and they closed $ .75, and we also added a spread using the NEM 8/65 / 70 calls at a $1.30 debit.
Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/5afUNy48sFI
Our Discord Forum link is on the video description..
SECTORS: The FAANG names all finished near the lows, several like MSFT coming off a new all-time high and closing down on the day. Not a good sign if they follow-thru to the downside tomorrow. Also having trouble was CCL, who has had to cancel several cruises for Q4 and Q1 2021. It closed $14.57 -1.04 (6.7%). Add to that, the UAL report that it is giving warnings that it will be laying off “10’2 of thousands of employees.” UAL finished $32.55 -2.66 (7.55%). These two companies do not operate in a vacuum, so both groups are in jeopardy, again. Novavax (NVAX) got a $1.6billion grant from BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) to help it along in it’s search for a workable vaccine. The stock, up from $8 as late as the end of February had worked its way up to $85 last month and opened today $104 and traded as high as $111.77 and finished $104.56 +25.12 (31.63%). Don’t get too crazy with this one, this is not its first rodeo. In 2015 it was trading $300 before it had a failure on a different vaccine and the stock fell to $80 before a rally and then in the week of 9/16/2016 it fell further from $169.80 to $23.20 and then on to the adjusted (1:20 reverse) low around $4.00. We’ll hope for a better outcome this time around. Walmart was the big winner on a RECODE that said they are ready to launch Walmart +, to compete with Amazon Prime for same day grocery delivery and next day for other products. Its move today added 55 DP’s to the averages. I don’t think it’s a big deal since for the same money, with Prime you get streaming too. And the margins on groceries are razor thin.
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was MIXED with TSN -.67, BGS +.70, FLO -.03, CPB -.11, CAG +.54, MDLZ -.22, KHC +.22, CALM +.03, JJSF -1.43, SAFM +.54, HRL -.14, SJM +.18, PPC -.34, KR -.03, and PBJ $31.56 +.06 (.19%).
BIOPHARMA was MIXED with BIIB - -1.72, ABBV +.72, REGN +14.50, ISRG -9.30, GILD -.13, MYL -.43, TEVA -.29, VRTX +8.35, BHC -.59, INCY +.86, ICPT -.74, LABU +3.36, and IBB $140.15 +.71 (.51%).
CANNABIS: was LOWER with TLRY -.13, CGC -.40, CRON -.19, GWPH +2.93, ACB +.17, CURLF -.07, KERN -.62 and MJ $13.08 -.01 (.08%).
DEFENSE: was LOWER with LMT -8.59, GD -3.29, TXT -1.73, NOC -7.89, BWXT -1.78, TDY – 7.84, RTX -2.12 and ITA $160.32 -6.10 (3.67%).
RETAIL: was LOWER with M +.03, JWN -.58, KSS -.72, DDS -.88, WMT +9.11 (7.66%), TGT -1.40, TJX -1.84, RL -2.49, UAA -.41, LULU -6.66, TPR -.51, CPRI -.18 and XRT $43.78 -.43 (.97%).
FAANG and Big Cap: were MIXED with GOOGL -7.40, AMZN -44.69, AAPL +1.06, FB -.91, NFLX +.69, NVDA +3.06, TSLA +9.42, BABA -2.60, BIDU -4.54, CMG -10.92, CAT -2.03, BA -8.57, DIS -.53 and XLK $106.34 -.77 (.72%).
FINANCIALS were LOWER with GS – 7.91, JPM2.52, BAC -.63, MS -1.32, C -1.53, PNC -3.15, AIG -1.36, TRV -2.45, AXP -3.48, V -3.13, and XLF $22.93 -.48 (2.05%).
OIL, $40.62 -.01. Oil was lower in last night’s trading before we rallied in the morning. I mentioned in last night’s charts with comments section in the Weekly Strategies letter, prices are trying to work higher towards $45.00. We needed a close over the previous high close of $40.83 and while we were there, we sold off to close below that number. The stocks were higher with XLE $36.26 -1.19 (3.18%).
GOLD $1,809.80 +16.40. It was a continuation rally and a new recovery high OF $1807.70 Last night I said “we’ve moved $50 since the low on Friday and while the trend and momentum are positive, we may have to test 1790 to consolidate our gains.” Unfortunately, we pulled back to 1,767 instead. We rallied a bit and finished only slightly better. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM @ $58.86. And, we also added a half position in NEM 7/17 60 calls @ $1.55, and additional 50% @ $1.30 on Friday. We sold half on the 100% Up Rule @ $2.94 and half of what was left today @ $3.20, we closed $3.20 + .80 today.
BITCOIN: closed $9,290 -65. After trading back to 8985 we rallied back to close – only $5. Since last week we have closed between 9200 – 92.85 every day with narrow ranges and today was a good start to move higher. A break over 10,000 still sends us higher. We added 350 shares of GBTC @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97. GBTC closed $9.76 - .19 today.
Tomorrow is another day.

ABSOLUTE LUNACY
Today’s market started off on the downside couldn’t get going and rallied, couldn’t make much headway and reversed again and closed pretty much unchanged. Really a “much ado about nothing. The Close was DJIA +52.31 (.20%), NASDAQ +39.28 (.37%), S&P 500 +9.67 (.30%), the Russell +.03, and DJ Transports +22.39 (.20%). Market internals were just 1:1 in NYSE and 1.4:1 down on NASDAQ. Volume was slightly higher. DJIA was split 17:13 UP with the only major movers were GS +59 DPs and BA -34 DP’s. The Continuing claims were 12,580,000 and initial claims 870,000. Both numbers were slightly higher than forecast, but within a reasonable range. They really didn’t have much effect on the market. Later in the morning New Home sales came in at +4.8% vs. -.03 expected. That number was a major expansion and well over forecast with the south being the biggest gainer, +13.4%.

SECTORS: Goldman Sachs got an upgrade from UBS and the stock reacted well, closing $195.11 +8.99 (4.8%) and as mentioned above, the biggest gainer in the DJIA. SPI, yesterday’s EV star, which hit $46.67 before closing $14.00 had a range of $28.71 to $12.50 and closed $13.10 -.90; but today’s magic word deal was SUNW which yesterday made a statement about doing EV busines moved from $ .77 to $4.57 before closing $1.16 got better traction today and ran up to $8.50 before closing $3.93 +2.77 or 238%. SeeSaw Day

For Trading September 25TH
Seesaw Day!
COST Beats But Sells Off
ABSOLUTE LUNACY
Our “open forum” on Discord, which allows me to interact with subscribers and others to allow direct questions and chart opinions on just about any stock, continues to grow with more participants every day. It is informative and allows me to share insights as the market is open and moving. The link is: https://discord.gg/ATvC7YZ and I will be there and active from before the open and all day. It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights, and we’ve grown to almost 3000 members. I also returned to my radio show today with a great live interview with the Chief Medical Officer of JANONE (JAN) and it was a great show. This is the link to the audio recording including my discussion of the market and the very exciting story of JAN’s phenomenal NON-OPIOID Pain Med! COSTCO (COST) reported great earnings and record sales but after a jump from $347 +2.37 it hit $354.16 but turned back and fell as far as $334 before closing $338.75 -5.88 (1.7%). The White Dragon : A Canadian Dragon Portfolio

Alright guys, Ive been working on this for a while and a post on here by a guy describing his portfolio here was the final kick in the ass for me to put this together. I started writing this to summarize what Im doing for my friends who are beginners, and also for me to make some sense of it for myself
Hopefully parts of it are useful to you, and also ideally you guys can point out errors or have a suggestion or two. I'm posting this here as opposed to investing or canadianinvestor (blech) because they're just gonna tell me to buy an index fund.
This first section is a preamble describing the Canadian tax situation and why Im doing things the way that I am. Feel free to skip it if you dont care about that. Also, there might be mistake regarding what the laws are here so dont take my word for it and verify it for yourself please.
So here in Canada we have two types of registered accounts (theres actually more but whatver). There is the TFSA "Tax Free Savings Account", and RRSP "Registered Retirement Savings Account"
For the sake of simplicity, from the time you turn 18 you are allowed to deposit 5k (it changes year to year based on inflation etc)in each of them. That "room" accumulates retroactively, so if you haventdone anything and are starting today and you are 30 you have around 60k you can put in each of them. The prevailing wisdom is that you should max out the TFSA first and you'll see why in a minute.

TFSA is post tax deposits, with no capital gains or other taxes applied to selling your securities, dividends or anything else. You can withdraw your gains at any time, and the amount that you withdraw is added to the "room" you have for the next year. So lets say I maxed out my TFSA contributions and I take out 20k today, on January of next year I can put back in 20k plus the 5 or whatever they allow for that year. You can see how powerful this is. Theres a few limitations on what is eligable to be held in the TFSA such as bitcoin/bitcoin ETFs, overseas stocks that arent listed on NYSE, TSX, london and a few others. You can Buy to Open and Sell to Close call and put options as well as write Covered Calls.

The RRSP is pre-tax deposits and is a tax deferred scheme. You deposit to lower your income tax burden (and hopefully drop below a bracket) but once you retire you will be taxed on anything you pull out. Withdrawing early has huge penalties and isnt recommended. You are however allowed to borrow against it for a down payment as a first time home buyer. The strategy with these is that a youngperson entering the workforce is likely to be in a fairly low tax bracket and (hopefully) earns more money as they get older and more skilled so the RRSP has more value the greater your pre-taxincome is. You can also do this Self Directed. Its not relevant to this strategy but I included it for the sake of context.
Non registered accounts ( or any other situation, such as selling commercial real estate etc) is subject to a capital gains tax. In so far as I understand it, you add all your gains and losses up at the end of the year. If its a positive number, you cut that number IN HALF and add it to your regular pre-tax income. So if I made 60k from the dayjob and 20k on my margin account that adds up to 70k that I get taxed on. if its a loss, you carry that forward into the next year. Theres no distinction between long term and short term. Also physical PMs are treated differently and I'll fill that part in later once I have the details down.
The reason why all that babble is important is that my broker Questrade, which isnt as good as IB (the only real other option up here as far as Im aware) has one amazing feature that no other broker has: "Margin Power"
If you have a TFSA and a Margin account with them, you can link them together and have your securities in the TFSA collateralise your Margin account. Essentially, when it comes to the Maintenance Excess of the Margin Account QT doesnt care if its in the TFSA *or* the Margin!
You can see how powerful this is.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So as you can tell by the title, a lot of this is heavily inspired by Chris Cole's paper "The Allegory of the Hawk and the Serpent". You can read it here: https://www.artemiscm.com/welcome#research
Between it, his interviews and my mediocre options skills at the time my mind was blown. Unfortunately I didnt know how to do the Long Volatility part until after the crash in March but I've since then had nothing but time to scour the internet and learn as much as I could.
The way I interpret this isnt necessarily "what you should have right now", but what abstracted model they were able to backtest that gave them the best performance over the 90 years. Also, a lot of my portfolio I already had before I started trying to build this.
As such my allocations dont match the proportions he gave. Not saying my allocations are better, just showing where they are at this time.
I'm going to describe how I do Long Volatility at the end rather than the beginning since the way *I* do it wont make sense until you see the rest of the portflio.

Physical PMs 22%
I'm not sure wether he intended this to be straight up physical gold or include miners and royalty streaming companies so I will just keep this as physical.
I consider Silver to be a non-expiring call option on gold, so that can live here too. I am actually *very* overweight silver and my strategy is to convert a large portion of it to gold (mostly my bars) to gold as the ratio tightens up.
If youre into crypto, you can arguably say that has a place in this section.
If an ETF makes sense for part of your portfolio, I suggest the Sprott ones such as PHYS. Sprott is an honest business and they actually have the metal they say they have. If you have enough, you can redeem your shares from the Royal Canadian Mint. The only downside is that they dont have an options chain, so you cant sell covered calls etc. Simple enough I suppose.
One thing to bear in mind, there is a double edged sword with this class of assets. They're out of the system, theyre nobody's business but your own and theres no counter party. That unfortunately means that you cant lever against it for margin or sell covered calls etc. You can still buy puts though (more on that later)

Commodity Trend (CTA) 10%
https://youtu.be/tac8sWPZW0w
Patrick Ceresna gave a good presentation on what this strategy is. Until I watched this video I just thought it meant "buy commodities". A real CTA does this with futures also so aside from the way he showed, there are two other ETFs that are worth looking at.
COM - This is an explicit trend following ETF that follows a LONG/FLAT strategy instead of LONG/SHORT on a pile of commodity futures. So if they get a "sell" signal for oil or soybeans they sell what they have and go to cash.
COMT- Holds an assortment of different month futures in different commodities, as well as a *lot* of various related shares in producers. Its almost a one stop shop commodities portfolio. Pays a respectable dividend in December
If you want to break the "rules" of CTA, and include equities theres a few others that are also worth looking at
KOL- This is a coal ETF. The problems with it are that a lot of the holdings dont have much to do with coal. One of them is a tractor company. A lot of the companies are Chinese so theres a bit of a red flag.
Obviously Thermal Coal, the kind used for heating and powerplants isnt in vogue and wont be moving forward...but coking coal is used for steel manufacturing and that ain't going anywhere. The dividend is huge, pays out in December. A very very small position might be worth the risk.
Uranium- I'm in URA because thats the only way for me to get exposure to Kazatoprom (#1 producer), which is 20% of the holdings. The other 20% is Cameco (#2 producer)and then its random stuff.
Other than that I have shares in Denison which seems like its a good business with some interesting projects underway. I'm still studying the uranium space so I dont really have much to say about it of any value.
RSX- Russia large caps. If you dont want to pick between the myriad of undervalued, high dividend paying commodity companies that Russia has then just grab this. It only pays in December but it has a liquid options chain so you can do Covered Calls in the meantime if you want.
NTR- Nutrien, canadian company that was formed when two others merged. They are now the worlds largest potash producer. Pretty good dividend. They have some financial difficulties and the stocks been in a downtrend forever. I feel its a good candidate to watch or sell some puts on.
I'm trying to come up with a way to play agriculture since this new phase we're going to be entering is likely to cause huge food shortages.

EURN and NAT- I got in fairly early on the Tanker hype before it was even hype as a way to short oil but I got greedy and lost a lot of my gains. I pared down my position and I'm staying for the dividend.
If you get an oil sell signal, this might be a way to play that still.

Fixed Income/Bonds 10%

Now, I am not a bond expert but unless youre doing some wacky spreads with futures or whatever... I dont see much reason to buy government debt any more. If you are, youre basically betting that they take rates negative. Raoul Pal of Real Vision is pretty firm in his conviction that this will happen. I know better than to argue with him but I dont see risk/reward as being of much value.
HOWEVER, I found two interesting ETFs that seem to bring something to this portfolio
IVOL- This is run by Nancy Davis, and is comprised of TIPS bonds which are nominally inflation protected (doubt its real inflation but whatever) overlayed with some OTC options that are designed to pay off big if the Fed loses control of the long end of the yield curve, which is what might happen during a real inflation situation. Pays out a decent yield monthly
TAIL- This is a simpler portfolio of 10yr treasuries with ladder of puts on the SPX. Pays quarterly.

Equities 58% (shared with options/volatility below)
This is where it gets interesting, obviously most of this is in mining shares but before I get to those I found some interesting stuff that I'm intending to build up as I pare down my miners when the time comes to start doing that.
VIRT- I cant remember where I saw this, but people were talking about this as a volatility play. Its not perfect, but look at the chart compared to SPY. Its a HFT/market making operation, the wackier things get the more pennies they can scalp. A 4% dividend isnt shabby either.
FUND- This is an interesting closed end fund run by Whitney George, one of the principals at Sprott. He took it with him when he joined the company. Ive read his reports and interviews and I really like his approach to value and investing. He's kind of like if Warren Buffett was a gold bug. Theres 120 holdings in there, mostly small caps and very diverse...chicken factories, ball bearings all kinds of boring ass shit that nobody knows exists. Whats crucial is that most of it "needs to exist". Between him, his family and other people at Sprott they control 40% or so of the shares, so they definitely have skin in the game. Generous dividend.
ZIG- This is a "deep value" strategy fund, run by Tobias Carlisle. He has a fairly simple valuation formula called the Acquirer's Multiple that when he backtested it, is supposed to perform very well. He did an interview with Chris Cole on real Vision where he discusses how Value and Deep Value havent done well recently, but over the last 100 years have proven to be very viable strategies. If we feel that theres a new cycle brewing, then this strategy may work again moving forward.

I want to pause and point out something here, Chris Cole, Nassim Taleb and the guys at Mutiny Fund spend a lot of effort explaining that building a portfolio is a lot like putting together a good basketall team. They need to work together, and pick up each others slack
A lot of the ETFs I'm listing here are in many ways portfolios in and of themselves and are *actively managed*. I specifically chose them because they follow a methodology that I respect but I can't do myself because I dont have the skill, temperament or access to.
The next one is a hidden gem and ties into this. I'm not sure how much more upside there is in this one but man was I surprised.
SII- Sprott Inc. I *never* see people listing this stock in their PMs portfolios. A newsletter I'm subscribed to described this stock as the safest way to play junior miners. Their industry presence, intellectual capital and connections means that they get *the best* private placement deals in the best opportunities. I cant compete with a staff like theirs and I'm not going to try. I bought this at 2.50, and I liked the dividend. Since then they did a reverse split to get on the NYSE and like the day after the stock soared.
When it comes to mining ETFS I like GOAU and SILJ the best. None of their major holdings are dead weight companies that are only there because of market cap. I dont want Barrick in my portfolio etc.
SGDJ is a neat version of GDXJ.
Aside from that my individual miners/royalty companies are (no particular order)
MMX
SAND
PAAS
PGM
AUM
AG
MUX
RIO- Rio2 on the tsx, not rio tinto
KTN
KL
Options/Volatility: varies
So this is where we get to the part about options, Volatility and how I do it. I started out in the options space with The Wheel strategy and the Tastytrade approach of selling premium. The spreads and puts I sell, are on shares listed above, in fact some of those I dont hold anymore.
Theres tons of stuff on this in thetagang and options so I wont go into a whole bunch (and you shouldnt be learning the mechanics from me anyway) but theres one thing I want to go over before it gets wild.
If I sell a Cash Secured Put, from a risk management perspective its identical to just buying 100 shares of the underlying security. You are equally "Short Vol" as well, it just that with options
its a little more explicit with the Greeks and everything. But if I use my margin that I was talking about earlier, then I can still collect the premium and the interest doesnt kick in unless Im actually assigned the shares.
But if I sell too many puts on KL or AG, and something happens where the miners get cut down (and lets be real, they all move together) my margin goes down and then I get assigned and kaboom...my account gets blown up
So what I need to do, is balance out the huge Short Vol situation in my portfolio, be net Long Vol and directly hedge my positions. Since the overwhelming majority of my equities are all tied to bullion this is actually a very easy thing to do.

Backspreads
https://youtu.be/pvX5_rkm5x0
https://youtu.be/-jTvWOGVsK8
https://youtu.be/muYjjm934iY

So I set this up so the vast majority of my margin is tied up in these 1-2 or even 1-3 ratio put spreads that *I actually put on for a small credit*, and roll them every once in a while. I run them on SLV, and GDX.
I keep enough room on my margin so I can withstand a 10% drawdown before it sets off the long end of the spreads and then I can ride it out until it turns around and we keep the PM bull market going.
Theres another cool spread I've been using, which is a modified Jade Lizard; if already hold shares, I'll sell a put, sell a covered call, and use some of the premium to buy a longer dated call. Ive been running this on AG mostly.
I have a few more spreads I can show you but Im tired now so it'll have to wait for later.
As I said multiple times, I do intend to trim these miners later but now isnt the time for that IMO. I'm also monitoring this almost full time since I have an injury and have nothing better to do until I heal :p

Back to SOME Sanity
NASDAQ at Another New High!
U.S. DOLLAR CONTINUES TO WEAKEN
Today’s market was just another day dominated by a switchover to focus on the FAANG and mega-cap stocks. After a couple of quiet day the big guns took off again. The star was AAPL moving to a new all-time high at $345.61 and closed not much below that new mark. AMZN, with its new price target of $3,300 was also strong with a move to $2,626.43 before a late market close at $2614.50 +90.44. Unfortunately for those invested in the big 5 or 6, the rest of the market didn’t fare quite so well. DJIA -300.14 (1%), NASDAQ +29.01 (.30), S&P 500 -26.21 (.,78%), the Russell -29.84 (1.94%) and the DJ Transports -227 (2.2%). Volume was slightly above the recent average with the A/D on the downside with NYSE 3.5:1 and NASDAQ 2:1 lower. Unfortunately, the DJIA stocks were heavily stack in the loss column with only 2 higher and 28 down. The big gainer was AAPL +72 DP’s and the loser, BA -95.

FAANG and Big Cap: were HIGHER with GOOGL +6.96, AMZN +90.44, AAPL +11.94, FB +8.40, NFLX +15.51, NVDA +11.54, TSLA -12.93, BABA +1.80, BIDU -1.03, CMG -9.23, CAT -2.71, BA -14.51, DIS -2.88, and XLK $102.40 +.48 (.47%)>
FINANCIALS were LOWER with GS -2.70, JPM -2.69, BAC -.28, MS +.45, C -1.64, PNC -4.13, AIG -1.69, TRV -1.25, AXP -2.56, V +.12, and XLF $26.17 -.57 (2.13%).
OIL, $38.94 +.75. Oil has managed to trade $40.44 yesterday and fell back to the 5-day MA and closed there. We then traded as low as 37.07 today before reversing late in the day and closing higher. In fact, people came after every little depressed stock and many have moved several 100% in the past few days and they sold them just as hard today. The stocks were lower and XLE was $45.10 -1.76 (3.76%).
METALS, GOLD: $1,721.90 +16.80. After trading down to $1671 last week we had a bounce higher again today after testing the 1697 level. The action in the US$ is projecting higher prices for the metals, but it does not necessarily trade with the dollar on a day by day basis. Support is around Friday’s lows. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM yesterday @ $58.86.
BITCOIN: closed $9,805 +25. After breaking down from just over 10,000 and trading as low as 8630 last Tuesday we have been clawing our way back toward 10,000. Last week we traded over $10500 but fell all the way back to the lows, but we’ve moved back toward $10,000. We added 350 shares of GBTC last Wednesday @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97. GBTC closed $11.48 - .10 today.
Tomorrow is another day.

For Trading April 30th

OIL Moves Higher
GOOGL, TSLA, & MSFT Blow Away Numbers
Russell the Big Winner
Today’s market got off to a dramatic start when already +200 in the futures, GILD came out with positive news on the NIAID trial for Remdesivir and we added an additional 250 to the open. The Fed FOMC was a nonevent, but after the Q&A, it became obvious that the money train would keep rolling, the Gold moved higher. The final numbers were impressive with DJIA +532.31 (2.21%), NASDAQ +306.98 (3.57%), S&P 500 +76.12 (2.66%), the Russell, the big winner +62.68 (4.83%) and the DJ Transports +221.30 (2.63%). Market internals were strong with NYSE 7:1 and NASDAQ 4:1 and for the first time in recent memory, volume was higher. The DJIA was 24:6 with WMT the only double-digit loser -30 DPs while on the upside we had V +72, AAPL +62, AXP & BA +53, and MSFT +52 (and more coming in the morning).

Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/el59hhpILHY
SECTORS: Earnings played a big part in today’s market. After the close last night, we heard from Google and it was a beat on revenues and after closing $1232.59 -38.27 and finished the evening $1267 +35. It continued higher today and finished $1345.02 +112.43 (9.12%). After today’s close we heard from a few of the other FAANG names. FaceBook was a miss both top and bottom but the guidance they gave on ad spending was upbeat. After closing 194.19 +11.28 it to 214.57 + another $20. MSFT beat on both numbers and after closing $177.43 +7.62 it shot higher to 186.52 before closing $181.25 + 3.82. TSLA was the last one to report and the stock has been on a tear from a low of $350 in mid-March to close today $800.51 +31.39 and put out a profitable quarter and talked about it big truck. The stock moved to $886.89 and closed $870.30 for a total gain of $101.88 (13.25%).
And, the HOMERUN OF THE DAY is clearly Capricor Therapeutics (CAPR) reported that it had a 100% survival of its patients treated with CAP-1002. All were in deep respiratory distress and 5 of the 6 were on ventilators. Four of the six have already been discharged. The stock, which has been reversed twice, most recently 1:10, and the last time 1:50 finished the day $8.50 +6.09 (252.7%) Clearly a home run. But with a side note since the adjusted high after both reverses is $2,720. Quite a destroyer of equity.
FOOD SUPPLY: was LOWER with TSN +.74, BGS -.75, FLO -.47, CAG -.19, MDLZ -.55, KHC +.81, CALM -.79, JJSF +10.71 (8.48%), SAFM -3.43, and LANC +3.09.
BIOPHARMA: was HIGHER with BIIB -.46, ABBV +1.20, REGN -17.26 (3.27%), ISRG +16.27 (3.23%), GILD +6.37, MYL +1.06, TEVA +.36, VRTX +1.54, BHC +.95, INCY -1.71, ICPT +1.07, LABU +1.36, and IBB $126.55 +1.74 (1.39%).
CANNABIS: This group was HIGHER with TLRY +.18, CGC +.46, CRON +.06, GWPH -.18, ACB +.01, PYX +.03, NBEV +.03, CURLF +.30 (6.67%), KERN -.21 and MJ $12.44 +.18 (1.47%).
DEFENSE: was HIGHER with LMT +8.17, RTX +3.39, GD +.71, TXT +1.48, NOC -12.70, BWXT -.07, TDY +12.71 and ITA $161.85 +7.91 (5.14%).
RETAIL was HIGHER with WMT the big loser again -3.89 (3.04%), M +.26, JWN -.02, KSS +.66, DDS -.45, JCP -.017, TGT +.85, TJX +4.90 (9.98%), RL +2.53, UAA +.19, LULU +7.96, TPPR +1.24 (7.7%), CPRI +1.68 (11.17%), and XRT $37.92 +1.10 (2.99%).
FAANG and Big Cap: were HIGHER with GOOGL +112.43 (9.12%), AMZN +104.12 (4.5%), AAPL +13.72 (4.92%), FB +31.66 (17.31%), NFLX +8.68, NVDA +9.44, TSLA +101.80 (13.25%), BABA +7.15, BIDU +3.12, CMG +26.64, BA +9.65, CAT +5.28, DIS +6.51 (6.13%) and XLK $93.45 +5.25 (5.95%).

OIL, $15.06 +2.72. Oil was higher again today and seems to be making a decent show of making an important bottom. Tonight, it is higher again trading 15.95 +.89. The stocks were also much higher with gains of between 6% on the big names and as much as 30% on some of the small ones. XLE closed $39.95 +3.77 (5.63%).
METALS, GOLD: $1,713.40 -8.80. After the recent gains, Gold broke solidly above $1,700 and traded as high as $1788 last Wednesday. We have spent the last 3 days consolidating the gains and hit $1,720 today. I said I wanted to get long the GLD if we can probe the $1710 range, and when it traded $17.04 yesterday I was a buyer. We took the downside move this morning and averaged down @ $1.06, and they closed $1.61. We are also long NEM.
BITCOIN: closed $8825 +1045. After we traded in the uptrend, I mentioned this weekend that I felt we would have to test 6750 and yesterday we hit 6465 before turning back up. Today’s action was a continuing move higher. While I want to add the 350, I still want to wait and see some stabilization. We still own 400 GBTC with an average of $8.06. GBTC closed $9.60 +1.20 today.
Tomorrow is another day.

New SP500 closing high ..

For Trading August 19th
NEW S&P-500 CLOSING HIGH!
HOUSING STARTS +22%
U.S.$$ INDEX FALLS, Again!!
Today’s market WAS A SPLIT PERSONALITY RIGHT FROM THE START, again. While the S&P and NASDAQ worked higher, the DJIA was lower. The main reason, from my point of view was the incredible runup in the major earnings reporting companies. In the forefront were HD and WMT, who both had great numbers, but also had solid gains over the past week, and then again last night and this morning in the pre-open trading. The gains were overdone and the HD, which traded as high as $299 (preopen) could only manage $290.59 in the real world and then continued to fall; and WMT hitting $144.75 (preopen) could only manage $137.63 and then broke yesterday’s low of $133.85 and finished lower on the day. The DJIA finished -66.84 (.24%), NASDAQ +81.12 (.73%), S&P +7.79 (.23%), the Russell -15.70 (.99%), and DJ Transports -87.82 (.80%). Market internals were also negative with NYSE 3:2 Down as were the NASDAQ 5:3 and volume was light. The DJIA was 19 down and 11 up and there were no winners or losers bigger than 25 DP’s.

Tonight’s closing comment video: https://youtu.be/DROKWNfVcm0 Today’s Video on the Coffee/ JO trade: https://youtu.be/JGFQ8iM8CPc
SECTORS: As mentioned, the two biggest disappointments were HD and WMT, both of which were higher pre-open, and finished lower on the day with HD actually making a lower low than Monday. AMZN made a new high close although the all-time high trade is still $3344.29 on a day that it reversed and finished lower by $240. This looks like a solid consolidation formation and a new breakout to the upside. TSLA was again a big winner with both a new high and a new high close at $1887.09 and a high of $1823.90, even though it too traded higher in the extended hours hitting $1939.00. On the downside we had TEVA, being sued by the US government over an 8 year period of illegal kickbacks and it too finished lower after trading down to $9.80 but rallied back to finish $10.48 -1.11 (9.58%). Sorrento Therapeutics also fell on news that their CFO has been discharged immediately (never a good thing) and SRNE closed $12.28 +.18 (1.49%) and fell as low as $10.28 and finished $10.62 – 1.66.
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was HIGHER with TSN -.01, BGS +.22, FLO +.33, CPB +.16, CAG +.13, MDLZ +.82, KHC -.27, CALM -4.65, JJSF +.25, SAFM +.35, HRL +.22, SJM +.42, PPC -.01, KR +.52, and PBJ $34.43 +.10 (.27%).
BIOPHARMA was LOWER with BIIB -.26, ABBV -.13, REGN -2.14, ISRG -1.61, GILD -2.46, MYL -.01, TEVA -1.15 (see above), VRTX -2.53, BHC -.58, INCY +.08, ICPT -2.24, LABU -1.91, and IBB $135.20 -.79 (.58%).
CANNABIS: was LOWER with TLRY -.04, CGC -.06, CRON -.07, GWPH -2.37, ACB -.12, NBEV -.05, CURLF -.59, KERN +.57, and MJ $12.69 -.03 (.24%).
DEFENSE: was LOWER with LMT +1.30, GD -.69, TXT -.59, NOC -2.16, BWXT -.09, TDY -10.29, RTX -.80, and ITA $166.68 -1.88 (1.12%).

FAANG and Big Cap: were HIGHER with GOOGL +40.65, AMZN +136.59, AAPL +4.42, FB +1.34, NFLX +10.65, NVDA -2.88, TSLA +59.36, BABA +2.32, BIDU +.28, CMG +24.75, BA -2.96, CAT -.07, DIS -.47, and XLK $115.07 +.43 (.38%). PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE PRICES ARE LATE MARKET QUOTES AND DO NOT REPRESENT THE 4:00 CLOSES.
FINANCIALS were LOWER with GS - .87, JPM -1.26, BAC -.39, MS -.24, C -1.00, PNC -3.24, AIG -.30, TRV -.98, AXP -.65, V -.23, and XLF $24.60 -.16 (.65%).
OIL, $43.12 -.05. Oil was higher in last night’s trading before we rallied in the morning on news of production cutbacks from Iraq. The stocks were LOWER with XLE $37.49 -.48 (1.26%).
GOLD $2,13.10 +14.40 was a dramatic sell-off last week taking the gold down as low as $1,874.00 before a rally back to $1,950. I am still a bull on the metal, and we have a September bull call spread on using NEM 65/70 calls with a cost of $1.45, which closed today @ $2.51.
BITCOIN: closed $12,035 -450. After breaking out over $10,000 we have had a “running correction” pushing prices toward $12,000, reaching a recovery high of $12220 Thursday, and after a day of rest in between, we resumed the rally touching $12,635. We had 750 shares of GBTC and sold off 250 last week at $13.93 and still have 500 with a cost of $8.45. GBTC closed $14.38 -.37 today.

Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/5afUNy48sFI SECTORS: The FAANG names all finished near the lows, several like MSFT coming off a new all-time high and closing down on the day.

DJIA Reverses 835
POWELL Says, “No Neg Rates”, BUT
Today’s market was down from the start with the initial and continuing claims numbers, but it only lasted for 45 minutes before the market started back to the unchanged mark. We chopped around until 1:00PM and then we were above the prior close to stay. We finished +377.37 (1.62%), NASDAQ +80.55 (.91%), S&P 500 +32.50 (1.15%), the Russell +4.30 (.32%) and the DJ Transports +37.54 (.48%) and still -471 (5.65%) for the week. Market internals were anemic for an 835 rally at just over 1:1 on both exchanges. DJIA was 25 / 5 higher with no losses of over $3 DPs while gainers were UNH +86, AXP +39, HD +29, V +26, and JPM +24 DPs.
While Jay Powell said, “not looking at negative rates,” they really have no control over the markets. As our rates remain higher than others, we continue to be a magnet for the massive amount of money looking for a home. He may not be considering them, but he can’t really enforce the issue without some very unattractive methods of monetary controls, which, BTW, never work.

SECTORS: The news Taiwan Semi (TSM) that they were building an “advanced chip” facility in Arizona helped the group early and it finished $52.10 +1.18 (2.3%). AMAT followed with earnings after the close and while they were somewhat a disappointment, the stock, which closed $54.43 +2.94 (5.71%), it moved up to $57.88 and finished $57.01 +2.58.
Last night I mentioned ASCO, the Cancer Society annual meeting is in 2 weeks, and Allogene (ALLO) published their findings on a new therapy and the stock shot up from its close of $30.98 -1.56 (4.79%) to trade as high as $46.57 before closing $39.50 + 8.52. Today it continued higher and finished $42.12 +11.14 (35.96%). There will be a steady stream of these type of announcements in the next 10 days.

Stocks Rally, Again
Oil Fails on Cutbacks
Today was another day in which the market rallied on bad news. First time unemployment claims were 6.6 million vs the 5 million expectations, a big number by itself. The FED hit the market with it’s announcement of a new $2.3 TRILLION of emergency lending to businesses and municipalities. The UK announced its plan to fund their fiscal needs and in Germany, Merkel rejected the Italians demand for a joint euro debt deal. U. of Michigan Consumer Sentiment fell sharply to 71 vs. 89 in March and the consensus of 79.3. The DJIA finished +285.80 (1.22%), NASDAQ +62.68 (.77%), S&P 500 +39.84 (1.45%) the Russell again beat all others at +55.06 (4.62%) while the DJ Transports were +84.53 (1.04%). Market internals were 5.5:1 on NYSE and 3:1 NASDAQ. Volume was light again, but on a pre-holiday trading day that’s par for the course. Financials, real estate and Industrials were strong and Health care, technology and communication services weak. DJIA were 19 up and 11 lower with no triple-digit gainers or losers. JPM +58, GS +50, HD +49, and MCD +42 DPs, while UNH -22, jnj -14 and INTC -13 DPs. Tonight’s Closing Commentary is available https://youtu.be/O7pZP678FZs
There was also an excellent interview on CNBC HalfTime with Chamath Palihapitiya about bailouts and the American public that I’ve added. I think it’s especially interesting given that he is not a politician, but rather a venture capitalist. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/09/chamath-palihapitiya-us-needs-to-let-hedge-funds-billionaires-fail.html Besides this portion of the interview Chamath discusses that if the government wants to help “people” and make them even, they should take their last years W2 and pay them monthly what they earned last year and not to support the banks by taking illiquid assets off their balance sheets.

Later in the day the WSJ reported that the cuts were not as reported and involved cuts of only half that and only for a limited period of time. Today was a major move to the upside and the close is the highest since September 2012 and sets up a move towards the highs at $1,800 from 2011.
BITCOIN: closed $7,290 -45. After we traded in a short-range day followed by a $1,000 range on Friday BTC closed above $7,000 for the first time since it broke to the downside early last month.

Implementing a synthetic cryptoasset by leveraging RenVM mainnet and Ethereum DeFi protocols

Hi,
We are creating a new decentralized synthetic cryptoasset codenamed XOR on Ethereum ecosystem. We call it a synthetic asset becuase it's a synthesis of BTC, ETH and major altcoins and USD stablecoins. XOR lets investors and token-holders gain exposure to the BTC-Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies while protecting them from extreme intraday price volatility and downside risks generally associated with cryptocurrencies. Basically XOR is a capital protection insurance with infinite upside potential.
XOR is an DeFi protocol that will allocate funds under its management to the following three classes of crypto assets: 1. Bitcoin and 2. USD-linked stablecoins and 3. Altcoins such as ETH, XLM and XTZ dynamically and directionally in a mutually exclusive way. If BTC value is either relatively stable or positively increasing relative to the purchasing power of the basket of Stablecoins-(USDC, TrueUSD and USDT), XOR protocol automatically buys more BTC/Bitcoins. But when BTC price negatively fluctuates and losses 3% or more value for more than >10 minutes, then XOR Conversion Contract automatically reshuffles and rebalances its portfolio of crypto assets to the basket of stablecoins by progressively selling BTC and Altcoins and by reallocating funds more and more.... to USD stablecoins in a calibrated manner guided by the DelayFunc(0.50%++/--) that limits buying/selling to 10% of the AUM until the target assets rises(while buying that asset) or falls(while selling) by another 0.5%. And again when BTC and Altcoin prices stabilize and their prices start increasing relative to the stablecoin basket by >1%, then XOR dynamically rebalances its portfolio to BTC and Altcoins by buying them in the open market indefinitely unless and until situation reverses itself and another portfolio swap of underlying AUM to stablecoins gets triggered by negative fluctuations of BTC/Altcoins.
And in order to generate surplus reserves to pay for transaction fees/gas prices due to frequent rebalancing of its protfolio, XOR will be lending up to 90% of its AUM(BTC, ETH, Altcoins and USD stablecoins) on DeFi markets like Bzx, DeFipulse, Kyber, Compound, Airswap and so on.
We are thinking of implementing three contracts to accomplish the functionalities of XOR: 1. Conversion contract, 2. Data oracle contract on Chainlink, and 3. an ERC20 contract as XOR token.
Now we are facing following challenges in implementing these contracts in order to maintain 100% fidelity to the mission and manifesto of XOR that's protecting our AUM assets from negative marekt downturns but also exposing them to positive market upturns:
  1. how to convert large amount of multiple cryptocurrencies to USD stablecoins e.g. USDC, USDT, TUSD, BUSD etc and vice versa without causing large spikes in prices of target assets in the DeFi markets and decentralized exchanges like IDEX or Binance DEX?
  2. how to manage cryptoassets under management and implement the trading rules, order routing and money management protocols?
  3. how to implement the logic of the contracts on ethereum platform alone by using wrapped coins such as WBTC? So instead of buying BTC, we will buy equivalent wrapped BTC which will overcome the difficulties in cross-chain conversion and reconversion.
  4. Is it technically feasible to employ RenVM mainnet to solve some of the challenges of rebalancing of crypto portfolio in most efficient and cost-effective way along with Bzx, Defipulse, Compound, Airswap and Kyber? What would be the ideal mechanism for building such a synthetic cryptoasset?
  5. How to implement a Proof-of-Asset subprotocol/explorer to transparently display cryptoassets-under-management of XOR?
We will award 40,000 Coins to each person here if we receive quality responses.

Ouch!

For Trading March 10th
HISTORIC ACTION
Is Cruising Over?
Entire Yield Curve Under 1%
Today’s market was down from overnight with the futures hitting “limit down” before 4:00AM. The DJIA opened at 9:30, like always, but was halted within 4 minutes after hitting the “circuit-breakers” at -7% and trading was stopped for 15-minutes after which we reopened and headed lower again, touching -1946, and by noon we had recovered to only -1183, but by 3:00 we had made a new low of 23,706 -2158 before a rally to -1650 before another sell-off to close DJIA – 2013.76 (7.79%), NASDAQ -624.94 (7.29%), S&P 500 -225.81 (7.60%), the Russell -135.79 (9.37%, and DJ Transports, the biggest loser -874.21 (9.76%). Market internals were just short of absurd with numbers that I had to go to several sources to make sure were correct. NYSE raw numbers were 70:2973 or 43:1 and NASDAQ was 169:3190 or 19:1. The DJIA was 30:0 after WMT, which held on all day fell into the red. The biggest losers were not double, but triple-digit movers with BA -237, AAPL -155, GS -136, HD -123, CAT -117, and JPM -100DPs. The only single digit losers were VZ and WMT. It was an interesting day, but not one I’d like to see too often. The market was influenced by not only COVID-19, but also the fact that OPEC couldn’t come up with an agreement to limit oil production. Over the weekend Saudi Arabia declared a price war with Russia, the main opponent to any agreement. Interest rates continued to fall, and that, along with the oil news sent the banking names down dramatically. I’ll list those below in their sector.
It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights.
SECTORS: Other names in the news: It was a very tough day for everyone. While we did have a “Merger Monday” deal between AON and WLTW, neither of the participants made any headway. AON Plc, is buying Willis, Towers, Watson in the biggest insurance transaction ever and creating the world’s largest insurance broker, surpassing Marsh & McLennan (MMC) and worth about $80Billion.
There were a couple of names higher, just a few, and the main ones were in the auto parts segment with ORLY finishing $373.63 +5.55 (1.51%), AZO, $1113.69 +53.38 (5.03%) and AAP $130.36 +2.45 (1.92%). This group has been weak for the past 4-6 months. Also higher was discounter DLTR, $83.51 +3.27 (4.08%).
The Cruise lines continued to fall with all making new lows. RCL fell to $48.27 - 16.74 (25.75%) and down from $135 in January. CCL fell to $21.74 -5.41 (19.93%) and down from $52, while NCLH was $19.81 – 7.29 (26.9%) and down from $60. This is absolutely uninvestable. There will clearly be a point at which the shorts cover, but this group is dead money for a while.
In more COVID-19 news, Inovio (INO) which moved from $2.40 to $16.00 on the news that it would start human trials of its vaccine in April. This morning at $19.36 before collapsing all the way back to $8.53 before closing $9.83 -4.26 (30.23%).
But the HOMERUN OF THE DAY was another name I talked about in this space, AIM Immuno-Tech, Inc (AIM). The company said that its drug, Ampligen will begin testing at National Inst. Of Infectious Diseases in Japan that could play an important role in developing a protective early-onset therapy for COVID-19. The stock has been reverse split both 1:12 in 2016 and more recently 1:44 last June and traded under $ .40 had moved up to $3.50 this month and traded up on the news finishing $6.10 +4.00 (190%) and is continuing in extended hours to $8.75 and is currently $7.69 up an additional $1.59 for a total gain of $5.59 (266%). Quite a highlight on a dismal day.

CANNABIS: stocks were LOWER with TLRY -2.47 (24.65%) and KERN -2.58 (37.34%) and none down less than 7.48%. The ETF, MJ $11.74 -1.36 (10.38%).
DEFENSE: was LOWER with some major loses by LMT -31.47, RTN -14.83, GD -13.01, TXT -5.48 (15.26%), UTX -12.48, NOC -15.58, BWXT -5.14, TDY -33.73, and ITA was $174.00 -21.04 (10.79%).
RETAIL was LOWER with major losses. The brands were the biggest losers on the day. M-1.12, JWN -1.88, KSS -2.84, DDS -2.37, JCP - .015, WMT -1.17, TGT -1.92, TJX -1.35, RL -10.78 (10.19%), UAA -1.46 (11.56%), LULU -22.44 (10.27%), TPR -3.35 (15.44%), CPRI -3.13 (13.65%) and XRT $37.01 -2.12 (5.42%).
FAANG and Big Cap: were LOWER with GOOGL -80.14, AMZN -96.19, AAPL -21.42, FB -11.40, NFLX -22.48, NVDA -21.04, IBM -10.38, TSLA -92.48 (13.01%), BABA -7.24, BIDU -8.52, BA -36.22 (13.81%) on continuing problems with the 737MAX and the general market, CAT -16.42 (13.52%), DIS -10.55, and XLK $82.84 -6.07 (6.83%).
FINANCIALS were LOWER with most down over 10% with the market and softness in rates with GS -19.14, JPM -13.53, BAC -3.59, MS -4.35, C -9.34, PNC -15.48, AIG -5.13, TRV -8.54, AXP -9.94, and XLF $22.80 -2.75 (10.76%).
OIL, $31.13 -10.15 (24.58%) The stocks were LOWER with the dramatic fall on the “price war” between the Saudi’s and Putin. It’s difficult to even relate to the prices I’m seeing. In August when OXY bought APC for $57billion OXY was just over $50. Tonight it closed $12.51 –14.35 (53.43%) and the COMBINED market-cap is only $11.4Billion. The rest of the list was equally bad with CVX -13.42, XOM -4.94, MRO 4.06 -2.77 (40.56%), MPC -5.43, APA 10.22 -10.48 (50.6%), BP -5.66 and XLE $34.98 -7.52 (17.69%).
METALS, GOLD: $1,675.70 +3.30. After the rebound, and the overnight move to $1,704.30 we sold off as liquidation hit even the yellow metal. We managed to close up on the day, but it was a disappointment just the same. Our $1.40 position in the GLD calls finished $1.65 +.11.
BITCOIN: closed $7,850 -1,315. We broke to the downside overnight and fell to a low of $7,640, which closed a gap left on the breakout back in January. While I want to add the 350 sold just over a week ago, I want to wait and see some stabilization. We did have 2 subscribers add to new positions under the close today. But we still own 400 GBTC with an average of $8.06. GBTC closed $8.86 – 1.72 today.
Tomorrow is another day.
