Introducing Litecoin as base currency - Huge Bisq/Bitsquare update - Check out v0.5.1

This release comes with tons of changes and improvements.
Please download at: https://github.com/bitsquare/bitsquare/releases/tag/v0.5.1
Most relevant changes are:
Please see the full release notes below.
As that release has very profound changes it is NOT backward compatible to the earlier versions. It uses a new network which is separated from the current trade network. So your offers from the current application will not be visible for users who are using the new version.
If you want to migrate to the new version you need to close your offers and withdraw your funds to the new application. You can run both applications in parallel as they are using a different data directory. You cannot move over the wallet or application data because the wallet format has changed (BIP44) and we use a different data structure for the data base files. So you need to transfer the Bitcoin with a BTC transaction and set up your payment account(s) manually.
Please double check with cmd+e in the old application if no funds are left over (some bugs might have caused that the balance displayed in the UI is not correct).
Please use small amounts when starting trading in the new application as with so many changes there are some risks for bugs (though it is thoroughly tested).

Of Wolves and Weasels - Day 189 - The State of Dogecoin

Hey all! GoodShibe... on Vacation!
Please enjoy this post by Guest Writer thistime1 and tip them well ;D)
Note: To tip them directly: +dogetipbot @thistime1 xxx doge verify
I have collected as much data as I could possibly find and contacted as many major players in the Dogecoin community as I could. I hope you all find this synthesis of information informative and worthy of discussion.
Anything that was announced in the few days before this was posted may not be included here, due to me working on this for the last 2 weeks! Sorry if I missed you.
I hope to do this again, maybe even as a quarterly report.
Please take all the information presented to you here and make your own conclusions about how important each piece of data is to YOUR view of Dogecoin.
Price
1 Doge = $0.00029 USD
Price would have to increase ~750% to be back at peak value ($0.0022/dogecoin).
COMPARED TO LITECOIN
1 LTC = $7.60 USD
Price would have to increase ~650% to be back at peak value ($48/litecoin).
Market Capitalization
7th of all digital currencies, ~$23 Million USD
Our market cap has been declining the last few months, most coin’s have. I am excited to know what our year-to-year price change will be as that is a better measure of change than the last 30 days.
For the past few days I have been trying to find a graph of the TOTAL market cap of all coins together over time.
I have a theory that not a lot of money is being put into cryptocurrencies at the moment, and the coins that go up in value are taking away value from others. What do you think?
I want to know if this is true, or if I am crazy. If that is somewhat true, there is a limit to how many coins will make it big.
I'd love to just see the total ALTCOIN market cap over time as well.
Hashrate/Halving
Hashrate = ~50GH/s
Oddly, this is about the same hashrate we had after the last halving! ASICs inbound…
I could not find what proportion of the SCRYPT hashrate we have over time, as that is the best measure of hashrate in relation to other coins.
I do have this though.
Litecoin’s hashrate is about 10 times larger than ours now.
The current block reward (recent halving) will create 90 Million Dogecoins/day or 38.7BTC at current prices.
This means that if ALL mined Dogecoins are sold every day they would only make up 3.8-7.5% off all transaction volume per day, which is around 500-1000BTC/day.
When the price stays the same, we can assume 250-500BTC of Dogecoins are bought or sold in that day. Therefore miners do not make up a large portion of the selling anymore, and they haven't for a while.
Another BIG assumption you have to make is that 38.7BTC cannot move markets. From my personally observations, the Cryptsy DOGE/BTC market controls the price of Dogecoin. I have watched the Chinese markets (BTC100, BTC38, BTER) respond to changes in price after they happen on Cryptsy. ~38BTC can have a HUGE impact on price if buy/sell walls are not there to support it.
We need more demand, but it is nice to have less pressure from miners anyways.
Liquidity is still much much higher with Litecoin though!
Transactions per Day
Dogecoin has more transactions per day Litecoin, and all other altcoins.
Sent from addresses
Dogecoin has more unique addresses sending coins per day than Litecoin, and all other altcoins.
Average Transaction Value
Average Litecoin transaction value for today was $9,380 USD.
Average Dogecoin transaction value for today was $122 USD.
Average Bitcoin transaction value for today was $3,250 USD.
http://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactionvalue-btc-ltc-doge.html Dogecoin is potentially being used exactly as intended. Lots of people sending small amounts of money to each other or things.
I am stunned that the AVERAGE person sending Litecoins that day, sent almost $10K.
That is 3x higher than Bitcoin. In fact, oddly, Litecoin always has a higher average transaction value than Bitcoin since the Bitcoin bubble in late 2013. Anybody know why?
We usually DO NOT have higher transaction volumes than Litecoin, but we do consistently have ~500-1000BTC/day that is transacted, putting Dogecoin in the top 5 most traded coins.
Dogecoin Address Growth
Dogecoin has also GAINED 14,653 positive addresses in the month of June, where Litecoin has LOST 33,875. (info from bitinfocharts and currency4world)
Wikipedia Statistics (http://stats.grok.se/)
Bitcoin traffic – Average ~9000 views in the last 90 days (highest 18614 views/day) – total views/90 days 819,193
Litecoin traffic – Average ~380 views in the last 90 days (highest 998 views/day) – total views/90 days 40,036
Dogecoin traffic – Average ~1200 views in the last 90 days (highest 8629 views/day) – total views/90 days 154,415
Circlejerking Statistics
Bitcoin recently surpassed 1 Yottahash, I believe we are up to almost 1 Yottajerk of circlejerking power. I am excited for a few years from now, when the QuantumJerk ASICs are released.
Every time I read someone calling /dogecoin a circlejerk I laugh, not because they are wrong, but because they are just stating the obvious.
Do you think there is someone in the corner of the room at NASA who just comments about how all they talk about is rockets and space?
If dreaming big and congratulating ourselves on our achievements is a circlejerk, then I guess it’s human to circlejerk. Every subreddit is a circlejerk, the only difference in /dogecoin is that you can get tips from circlejerking. (Is that prostitution?)
The main point of this section was to see how many times I could type circlejerk.
Foundation
The new Dogecoin Foundation is now a legal enitiy and will have a road map of working projects
Personally I would love to see someone from the Chinese Dogecoin community represented on the Foundation. They buy and sell a lot of Dogecoins Maybe just a liason position or something.
At the very least, during fundraisers, the Chinese community should be contacted to see if they want to help out!
Development
Dogecoin is the ONLY altcoin with the Core/Wallet/qt based off of Bitcoin 0.9. Dogecoin Core will be kept up to date and features from the Bitcoin Core will be adopted quickly. The devs are doing great so far, especially against coins with full-time PAID developers!
CrytoSaga
Unprecedented cryptocurrency modeling software will be written to test possible outcomes to changes in Dogecoin’s algorithm. Main candidates are PoS 2.0, Tendermint, and SIMD. To my knowledge, this has never been created before in all of cryptocurrency, and will definitely further highlight the abilities of Dogecoin’s development team.
A payment protocol is also being worked on.
Cryptiv
Dogetipbot
Twitch tipping with dogetipbot will go live soon! You can sign up to be invited to the beta, here.
After Twitch tipping goes live, there will be a huge announcement
I have followed what mohland and dvorwak have said about it, here.
Coingecko
Price might not be so encouraging at the moment, but stay faithful. Keep up the good work. Encourage more people to join. The community is something special. I have strong faith that it will be heading to the moon!

Coming soon will be more tailored feeds where we will allow people to follow creators that interest them (will allow TwitteFB/linkedin auth to find friends/colleagues).
What can Dogecoin do better?
Marketing
For a coin that has done some of the best marketing out there, we suck at getting major announcements across on multiple platforms.
I am hoping /dogecoin_pr will bring this up to par.
EXAMPLE:
51.54% of Dogecoin users are on Dogecoin Core 1.6.( http://bitinfocharts.com/dogecoin/)
Maybe merchants and such are not to keen on updating if it is not required, but maybe they just do not know about 1.7.
When 1.8 comes out, I would love to see a sticky thread on the subreddit, an announcement on the official Dogecoin Twitter and Facebook pages, an announcement on the front of the BitcoinTalk forum, as well as contacting cryptonews websites.
Dogecoin has a large social media presence and should be taking advantage of THAT!
Tipping
I am concerned that there are not that many external deposits made to everyone’s dogetipbot accounts. Until there are more tipping users, I fear that we may be only be tipping coins that were tipped to us in the first place. That is not the best way to build demand. I am hoping mohland has some data on this.
I strongly believe in the tipping economy and culture of Dogecoin, and personally, that is how I think we can best build demand. Until we have more tipping users, it is up to us to build that demand, and the work could pay off.
Dogecoin.com
I know you powerlemons is working on updating this, but the website is COMPLETELY MISSING a section on how to accept Dogecoin. This should be just as big as the other coloured sections!
ALSO
This should be added to the “Get Dogecoin” section at the bottom of the page.
I have tried to keep it updated as much as possible, but would love the community to notify me of any changes

“I have said this to a few people in the community but my two cents on this is to keep it fun, charitable, and stick to the fundamentals that made the community grow so much initially. My personal opinion (and I really have no clue what I am talking about) is that this community grew so fast because it was so much fun, anything seemed possible, everything seemed worth trying and there were not many negative undertones with anything. It seems like people are really getting wrapped up in a lot of negatives right now and that is never productive. The law of attraction will rule in the end and as long as people are positive- no matter the circumstance- the circumstance will become positive. I love this place and wish only the best for dogecoin and the community, and like I said, I have no clue as to all of the intricacies and the many moving parts past and present. Only my two cents on what I see (:
As far as upcoming projects- I am still working on some new shirts by popular demand. I would really love to either race the Dogecoin car in a few Superspeedway races next year, or try to raise money so that we can run the rear bumper all season. I am super thankful for all that has come of this and want to continue to help build the brand and awareness in any ways possible. A lot of that is really up to the community though and not me.”

thistime1 - High Anxiety Shibe
I hope you all learned something today. I tried really hard to make sure that was the case.
Who do I love?
It's 7:41AM EST and we've found 87.49% of our initial 100 Billion DOGEs -- only 12.51% remains until our period of Hyper-inflation ends! Our Global Hashrate is up from ~44 to ~47 Gigahashes per second and our Difficulty is up from ~708 to ~724.
I Hope you enjoyed today's Guest Post by thistime1!

Ok, I am a Brit interested in investing in Bitcoin as part of my portfolio - why is the barrier to entry so fucking ridiculous?

I've signed up with Mt.Gox and become verified using my passport, etc. I've also signed up with OKPay using the same documents, but have yet to be verified. I'm wary of OKPay, the whole English layout of the website appears like something made in Nigeria.
Just how the fuck do I do a simple bank transfer from fiat without having inflated fees and so on ripping me off?
UK Citizen here with good credit record, credit cards, passport, driving licence, bank accounts, etc.
It seems the only way to get Bitcoin is to fucking mine them.

Huge Bisq/Bitsquare update - Check out v0.5.1

Now that the price is going to the moon, I'd like to bring back the topic of counterparty risk. Because I see new people coming in, I'd like to inform them that leaving your money to someone else, be it a bank, an exchange, a darknet market, a borrower etc etc, you face the risk of never getting your money back!
In Bitcoin there have been many hacks, ponzis, scams which have affected it price very negatively. Some of the most famous ones where : Bitcoinica, Mt. Gox, BTCe, Poloniex, BitStamp, Cryptsy, Shapeshift, Gatecoin, Bitfinex, BTER, Vircurex, Mintpal, Bitpay, Cavirtex, Bitquick, the DAO, Bittrex, cloud mining scams, p2p lending, Darknet markets exit scamming/getting bust etc. The way they were hacked varied, some didn't lose customer funds, others refunded them, others lost altcoins etc, but the danger of losing everything is still there.
Coinbase has had problems with the IRS demanding customer info, Cryptsy lawsuit because they helped Cryptsy's CEO steal and cash out customer funds, freezing accounts for gambling etc, not giving customer's Ethereum Classic after the Fork and so on.
Some of the 'old guys' know about all that and prefer to stay safe. Others keep risking it. Just be the smart guy! Very few people profit from trading or arbitrage! Do you think you are in the 10-20% of people that constantly make money trading? Chances are you aren't... In a year you could have made more than 2-3x just by holding your coins in a private wallet!
Some people were lending money at Bitfinex to earn interest (more than 10% per year). Guess what happened to them... They initially lost 36% and then it went down to 18% due to BFX's clever trick. And some people just kept USD in that exchange thinking nobody could take it from them.
Don't get distracted by high yields by any altcoin like Dash, Nubits, Lending Club or Cloud mining scheme. 90-100% of all those are scams or just unable to keep their promises. Some people might have profited, but on the expense of others, and in total, more people lost than gained.
And you are going to ask me: What if I want to sell or buy some coins? How do I do it? Well, nowadays there are many ways where you can do that safely. Might not very cheap, but these are probably some of the best ways to do it:
Localbitcoin, Bitcoin.de, Paxful, Wallofcoins, BitBargain, Bitsquare, Tether (Omni Dex), Mycelium local trader, Purse.io, itBit, Gemini or Glidera, are some ways where you can buy coins with very little counterparty risk and OTC. If you still insisted in trading, BTCC and Kraken are currently the best exchanges in my opinion!
The best way to buy coins would be to buy them with your debit/credit card and get them sent to your private wallet instantly! Some exchanges/services that I know are Glidera, Bitstamp, Coinbase, Bitx, Coinsbank and CEX.io. There might be others, but I don't know how good they are (I never buy with credit cards btw). I mainly use Kraken. I once deposited coins and sold them on Kraken and within 1 day I had my Euros in my SEPA account. Selling coins is riskier and the only 100% safe way, is to exchange BTC with cash with someone that you trust. I used to sell coins via Localbitcoin a few years ago. I would buy from an exchange and sell it for more there. After some time, I stopped using Localbitcoins. I had a small customer base, which I trusted and they trusted me. I'd work simply with bank deposits. At some point I trusted them and they trusted me so much, that I would send them the coins even the day before they'd make the deposit. I never had a single problem.
But, I had problems when I started... On my first trade someone tricked me on my first trade and I released the coins without ever getting the payment. I also had a problem when I sold coins with Paypal as he did a chargeback. I was young and naive, but luckily I didn't lose more than 200£ in total. Do some KYC to make sure they aren’t sending money from a hacked account or use services like Moneypolo, OkPay and Perfect money. These services are great for sellers, but as a buyer you might lose your money if you get hacked. Avoid services where someone can reverse a transaction like PayPal and Skrill. It isn't just about the exchanges getting hacked. What if you get hacked? Someone could easily steal all your details and even if you had 2FA on, they could steal your funds (something extremely hard to do, maybe impossible, if you had a hardware wallet. Finally, arbitrage isn't that profitable. The probability of one exchange getting hacked is lower than the probability of one out of five exchange being hacked. So you have to expect losses from at least one exchange... Bitstamp, BTCe and Poloniex made their customers whole again and that's very honorable, but how many more blows can they take? What if they lose altcoins and they take the route of socialised losses?

Informative post about Feathercoin

Seeing how this Subreddit is lacking any sort of info on Feathercoins and the lack of community support we have, I have decided to start a post that would inform newbies about Feathercoin and seasoned vets on the best places to trade.
Feathercoin:
It is a Crypto Currency that was started by Peter Bushnell. It is a clone of Litecoin (This coin was inspired by Bitcoin). The Feathercoin network generates coins at a decreasing rate. It will generate about 336 million coins which is 16 times more than that of Bitcoin and 4 times more than that of Litecoin. Currently about 25 million coins have been generated.
Network hashrates, Pools, Solo mining:
Currently a mid end system comprising of 7870 or 7970 will get you abot 400 to 700 kh/s. That means that in a given day you will be mining about 7 to 13 Feathercoins on current difficulty level. However If you mine alone that is solo mining, the probability of you finding a block is hard and it may take a while before you make a coin. To counter this people have started making pools to increase the chances of finding blocks. There are many pools that allow you to have multiple workers so you can setup multiple systems and mine at your leisure. Currently some of the popular pools are:
http://www.fcpool.com/
http://give-me-coins.com/
http://www.wemineftc.com/
http://fc.ltcoin.net/
https://ftc.d2.cc/
For a full list of mining pools: http://coinpools.sdfg.org/ftc
It is highly recommended to join a pool to make mining profitable. Look at the pools posted above, look at their fee structure, their payout and make an informed decision on which pool to join.
Hardware and Mining:
Feathercoin utilizes scrypt based mining that is you can use your GPU (the Graphics card inside your system) to mine them. AMD Cards are highly recommended as they output higher hashrates as compared to Nvidia. To give you an idea of the difference a 7870 ghz edition mines at about 375 kh/s whereas a Nvidia 780ti would mine at about 224 to 300 kh/s. If you are seriously considering in investing in this venture it would be best to buy a rig that supports 6 GPU's and buy either the 7950 or the 280x as they have considerably higher hash rates and are affordable to say the least. Something one should be aware of is that mining produces a lot of heat as your system is basically running at full capacity and therefore needs a lot of cooling. People usually build rigs in the open (no case) and use household fans to cool them. Also another thing that is common is to use PCIe risers as they allow greater spacing between GPU cards and effectively help in dissipating heat. Mining uses a lot of electricity so it is best to use a schedule to mine or if electricity is cheap then 6 7950's running 24 hours a day would cost you about 12 to 18 dollars in electricity a month, maybe more depending on where you live. The software to use for mining are Cgminer (https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=6925.0), guiminer scrypt (http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=961.0) and cudaminer for Nvidia cards. I would advise against Cpu mining as that is not profitable and will simply weigh you down. Invest 250 to 350 dollars in a good AMD GPU and you will be mining much more effectively.
Trading:
There are many places where one can trade Feathercoins but only a few of them offer FTC/USD exchange. Btc-e (https://btc-e.com/exchange/ftc_btc). Is one of the biggest cryptocoin trading exchanges, it does not offer USD exchange for Feathercoins as of yet but allows you to exchange for Bitcoins. Crypto-trade (https://www.crypto-trade.com/trade/ftc_btc), this trading exchange allows you to trade against the USD making it more favourable to miners however there is currently a lack of volume for FTC as of writing. Other exchanges like Cryptsy, Bter and coins-e are all good but they are heavily dependent on Bitcoins and Litecoins for now.
My thoughts
Feathercoin is fairly new and its gaining momentum, once big exchanges start listing it against the USD, the venture will become more profitable. For now it is advisable to mine as many as you can and sit on them till value improves or if you have a mining rig that is mining at 22000 kh/s (this will get you about 500 feathercoins a day) then mine the shit out of them and trade them for Btc for profit although I would recommend against this as it it reduces the value of feathercoin. Many exchanges allow you to deposit money via international wire transfers however the minimum is 2000 dollars so keep that in mind before investing real money into this venture. There are alternatives like paypal and okpay that are also accepted but not a lot of people have accounts on those so signup for a website that suits your situation.
One last ting we all need to do is spread awareness about Feathercoin, It is a miners coin and the difficulty right now makes it so much more interesting to mine. I will update this page with more information and will answer questions if any to the best of my knowledge. Happy mining
My FTC wallet deposit thingy address : 6v1VuL41xGuLG1Bd8usJsuUEkZyac8jKbe
EDIT : I realized some of you might have NVIDIA GPU's and are hesitant on getting AMD. Never fear for there is a solution. If you have a motherboard that supports two or more GPU's that is you have more than one PCIe slots than follow these instructions:
If you intend to game on your system while you are mining then put the NVIDIA card in PCI slot one and buy an AMD card and put it in slot 2. Now install the drivers in the order Nvidia first reboot and then Amd second reboot. You do not need to plug in HDMI to your AMD card just leave it as it is. Now download gpu miner scrypt and select from the list your AMD card and start mining, its that easy. At night if you want to squeeze in more kh/s then run cudaminer and let it mine alongside your AMD. The best part about this is that you can be mining 24/7 on your AMD card and you will not experience any system slow down while gaming or watching movies. Remember to have atleast two workers workers created so you can mine parallel. If you already have an NVIDIA card then just install your AMD card and install AMD drivers and reboot and run guiminer scrypt. At times you might run into the issue of guiminer not starting, just delete it and re install it and it should work fine in 98% of the cases. This is for those who do not want to invest in a completely new system and would rather use their existing system. You can use cgminer as well but remember the order in cgminer starts from 0 not 1 so if NVIDIA is in slot 1 then it is -d0 -g0 and AMD will be -d1 -g1

Simplest, and fastest way to buy bitcoin?

tl;dr What's the simplest way to buy a bitcoin / litecoin ?
I'm new to bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies, I've been learning about everything related to bitcoin in the past couple of weeks, trading, mining and what not.
So this past weekend I decided to buy my first bitcoin, and I signed up to multiple websites that offer buying and selling coins but only through an electronic payment system, btc-e accepts okpay and egopay which in turn can only be funded if you verify yourself by sending them a photo id and prood of residency etc.. which I am not comfortable doing at all, since this is the first time I hear of these payment systems.
I have looked into other sites like mtgox.com and vaultofsatosh.com, and apparently they all requirethe same verificiation methods. Apparently buying a bitcoin or a litecoin is not that easy.

how do I add USD to my BTC-E account?

I recently started looking into bitcoin and all the other cryptocurrencies, and I'm amazed at how well they're doing, and how much they can rise in the future. I'm going to start mining litecoins, and when I can get my hands on an ASIC, I'll mine bitcoins.
For now, I want to buy some namecoins- even a small amount like $50 can go a long way when they reach $1. I'm new to trading in general (very new). I started looking at ways to get USD into my BTC-E account. I made an account with okpay, and they have a verification process. I imagine there's a similar verification process for every legit trading site. Can someone tell a non-trader how to get verified? They want proof of address, does this simply mean any envelope with my name & current address?
also is okpay legit? if not, who is?
thanks for helping out a non-trader :) once I buy in, I plan on mostly just mining.

I'm asking OKPay.com publicly to unlock my account!

EDIT: read all about it here: http://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/1qedbo/heres_my_horror_story_with_okpaycom/
...before I write here my reasons to believe I'm scammed right now, even if I am in "verified" status, sent all documents of mine. Everything clear from my side and I only requested OKPay debit plastic card to be sent to my address.
You have 24 hours to unlock marko [at] vizio . biz
P.S. I had no means of accessing their site because they blocked my IP, so I had to go this way. The story is developing and it's very interesing... hang on... will post updates.

BTC-E.com safety checklist for noobs

DISABLE JAVA There's java zero day exploits being discovered all the time. One exploit still hasn't been fixed. You should do this permanently with your browser java is an exploit factory. IE you can't completely disable java so don't use it.
INSTALL NOSCRIPT ADDON https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/ or whatever shit script blockers Chrome/Safari use because Chrome is still lacking the required infrastructure for selective script disablement and object blocking so noscript isn't available, but inferior clones are. Whitelist only sites you need, like btc-e.com so it doesn't automatically load harmful scripts on untrusted sites.
GET AN ENCRYPTED PASSWORD SAFE http://www.schneier.com/passsafe.html Don't use any solution that 'encrypts in your browser' because it will need java and we disabled java remember?
MAKE NEW GMAIL ACCOUNT JUST FOR TRADING Make a random account name + password that can't be guessed. http://www.passwordgenerator.eu/
Store them in your password safe so you don't forget them. Never reuse that password on any site. ENABLE TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.
Note that 2factor ID sometimes doesn't work if your phone time is off. You get 30 seconds to type in the code, if off by 10 seconds derp run out of time. Set your time manually if the shitty telco time server is off www.timeanddate.com
MAKE BTC-E ACCOUNT Use impossible to guess passwords from password generator + throw in your own random letters. Save in password safe. Do not pick a name anywhere close to being your email username.
ENABLE 2FACTOR ID Click Profile, then click 'Edit'
https://btc-e.com/profile#edit/home - confirm your email.
https://btc-e.com/profile#edit/security - enable "Withdraw only with request on E-Mail"
DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS IN THE TROLLBOX!!!! No matter how innocent the link looks don't click anything in the chatbox. Hackers are dropping links full of java zeroday, redirectors that look just like btc-e login page and phish for passwords, all sorts of bad. Trollbox is also prone to misinformation being that it is a trollbox. Avoid.
If you chat on there, expect every PM sent to you will be from a hacker trying to mine information or get you to click a link. Assume every link is an exploit attempt. Notice how it displays your name, if you picked same name as your email, they can go to work on both by trying to break into your gmail account. This is another way how people get their coins stolen. Hacker takes chat name and tries it on gmail/hotmail/yahoo. If they get in because you didn't set up 2 factor expect to be robbed of coins.
DO NOT ENABLE API Unless you know what you're doing, do not enable this. Liberty Reserve disabled their API by default because of so many drained accounts.
DISCLAIMER Of course, be aware the exchange is in Russia or possibly Bulgaria and if anything happens the owner could just disappear, but this is highly unlikely. Why would you walk away from a money machine. Remember bitfloor (US) lost all it's customers bitcoins once, CryptoXchange (Australia) stole from users and disappeared, Bitcoinica (China?) stole or lost all the coins, and bitcoin-24 (German) has just lost their bank account and owner MIA. All exchanges carry risk no matter what country they are in.
You can fund btc-e through cash deposit in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Australia with http://www.ecurrencyzone.net/ which are authorized exchange listed on the Okpay.com site. They sell btc-e vouchers and Okpay. So does http://liliontransfer.org/ for wires and other methods.
If you want a really secure platform (you fear your comp is probably already infected with hidden java zeroday botnet) then download any linux live distro and make bootable USB or burn to CD. I recommend Liberty Linux http://dee.su and just use the non private browser (disable java and javascript!), NOT the Tor browser you don't want to trust SSL over Tor and risk a malicious exit node capturing traffic and running sslstrip on it or feeding you a MITM attack with spoofed certs.
If you want to know why watch this, nothing has changed since this talk was given: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Wl2FW2TcA

DigiByte - A professional & transparent decentralized cryptocurrency

DigiByte is a professional & transparent decentralized cryptocurrency that has been designed to address several of the weaknesses of Bitcoin & Litecoin.
As the Bitcoin & Litecoin marketcaps grow it is likely there will be even more price volatility and commodity speculation, resulting in fewer transactions for goods and services as was originally intended with crypto currencies. As such, we as the development team felt it was best to create Digibyte with a total coin supply of 21 Billion DGB. This will help reduce price volatility once DigiByte is tied directly to the USD and or Euro/Yuan while keeping in parity with the number 21 success of Bitcoin. This will help encourage DigiByte to be adopted as a transactional currency and not as a speculative commodity.
We are now seeing the death of the common home based Bitcoin miner, and the emergence of large ASIC mining companies. We as a development team feel this centralization of hash power goes against the main principles upon which Bitcoin was created. Given this reason and others we have decided to use Scrypt with Digibyte.
Scrypt is a tried and tested algorithm that has experienced much success in the crypto community. We feel there is no need to re-invent the wheel here. From our research we have concluded that even if ASIC scrypt miners are developed they will not give anywhere near the difficulty boost that was seen with Bitcoin and likely will not be cost effective to develop or purchase.
Just as Facebook overtook MySpace and Chrome over took Internet Explorer so too will a scrypt based coin over take Bitcoin. Bitcoin has done very well and paved the way but it will not be the king of crypto currencies forever. It is facing several issues right now including: slow transactions, limited coin supply and centralization of hash power. When studying new internet technologies the first to market ever stayed on top for long. Lycos was overtaken by Google; Napster has since been replaced by many others.
More importantly there is room for several cryptos just as there is for Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We have Wells Fargo, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and many more. We have PayPal, Western Union, OkPay and others. There is room for a professional crypto currency like DigiByte.
We feel DigiByte has a huge amount of potential. Our goal is for DigiByte to become a professional currency with a solid name and a bit of DigiMan marketing fun. Everyone knows what a megabyte or a gigabyte is, so why not use DigiBytes as a store of monetary value on your pc, tablet or smart phone? How many DigiBytes can your wallet hold?
Why use DigiByte?
1) Speed: DigiByte is Blazing fast! Much faster than Bitcoin & Litecoin, and fast enough to buy coffee from a merchant in just a few seconds with the press of a button on a smart phone!
2) Transactional Currency:With 21 billion coins, DigiByte will primarily become a worldwide currency traded for goods & services, and not a volatile speculative commodity like Bitcoin. DigiByte has a natural ratio of 1BTC:1000DGB to Bitcoin. This means that if Bitcoin is worth $1,000 DigiByte should be worth $1 -$10. A Perfect price for buying goods & services. No one likes to look in their wallet and see that they have 0.001 coins; 1,000 DigiBytes are much more appealing.
3) Community: DigiByte was planned and designed for over a month before launch. Since then, the community around DigiByte has continued to grow and contribute to its success.
4) Fair Launch: DigiByte was announced more than 3 days ahead of time. It was delivered at the exact minute advertised with a countdown timer for a fair launch. Over a half million dollars in hardware were thrown at the network in the first few minutes alone.
5) Transparency: The pre-mine of DigiByte is publicly posted and is used to further the long-term success of DigiByte.
6) DigiByte Name: You store data in megabytes & gigabytes. Why not store money in DigiBytes?

I've been mining for a few weeks and am currently considering to buy Ð, but I have no idea how to do so.

Hi guys,
I have started mining a few weeks ago and was really enthusiastic about dogecoin and even upgraded my graphics card just so I could mine faster :D
However, I feel that mining is not enough and I should also buy some Ð. Could any kind soul teach me how to do so? I have already downloaded the bitcoin wallet and made an account on cryptsy as well as bitstamp, however bitstamp required a picture of both pages of my passport etc. which I didn't feel like giving out such sensitive information. So I signed up for BTC-E and have no idea how to add funds since they only accept PerfectMoney, OKPAY, Payeer, wired transfer, Ecoin, Epese, EgoPay. The only method of depositing USD I can use is PayPal. Can anyone help me? :) Thanks!
Much appreciate, So moon, Very Doge!
P.S. I know that buying Ð is possible on ebay which allows me to use PayPal but Ð on ebay are mostly rip-offs :(

I have a headache...

So, basically i've been trying to buy some coins, with not very much luck.
I did my research before i set off trying to buy my first bitcoins. Read a couple guides here, a couple there, and then started trying.
I live in a country where most methods of obtaining BTC are unavailable (most cash deposits, etc), so i have limited options, and i'm stuck using a prepaid Visa card.
My first attempt was using MtGox. Basically the chain went like this: Mtgox > AurumXchange > Liberty Reserve > Centregold. My prepaid visa card ended up being rejected multiple times on centregold, so i scrapped that idea. A couple days go by and before i know it i'm sitting in front of my screen with a fucking headache looking at a word document with 10+ accounts and passwords for various exchange and wallet websites.
And then finally, I thought I found a way to make it work. I could go to a cashU distributor near my house, put money onto my cashU account from the card, then fund my Okpay wallet via cashU. Everything was going so well, until i tried to transfer my 30 bucks from Okpay into my BTC address.
I got an error message telling me that my account had to be verified. To do that, I have to scan and prove my identification, verify my phone number via SMS (which didn't even send), and scan proof of my god damn house documents...
So like, i cant really get my house documents since i live with my parents, and i dont want them questioning me.
Oh, and before all of that, i tried using VirWox.com, which apparently is a good way to do it in my situation. Too bad I have to wait 24-48 hours for my single bitcoin, and that single bitcoin is not on my Virwox account nor my BTC address. I understand however, since every post that had recommended Virwox did say that you must wait 24-48 hours for them to manually continue the transaction from Virwox to a bitcoin address.
NOTHING IS WORKING
If you guys are wondering, I live in the middle east, and afaik CashU is the only way I can get money onto my account. And that money is now stuck on Okpay.
I think Moneygram also works, but I still am yet to find out how to sort that out to get BTC out of it.
So to wrap it up, if ANYBODY on this sub has been in a similar situation as mine, PLEASE help a brotha out and throw me some helpful options, cus im about to go fucking crazy clicking on these ads for free 0.0000005 btc. All i want is one single god damn coin. I have the money, I have the motivation, I have the plan once i get that coin, but all I need is the coin. If anyone can give me some nice directions you'd be a lifesaver!!!
TL;DR: Tried to buy some BTC. Now im sitting here, and my brain is fucking fried. In the past couple days i've managed to get $30 stuck on an Okpay wallet, and 1 BTC stuck inbetween Virwox and my Bitcoin wallet. I've toured so many fucking russian bank websites its ridiculous. Help.
Sorry for the wall of text, but to be honest thats only like 10% of the bullshit ive been doing to get this BTC.
PS: just re-read all of that, it all looks pretty bitchy-complainy-pants, but i'm just frustrated and confused, that's all.
